Pilot's Watch UTC Spitfire Edition MJ 271
Steel ,
Calf Skin Leather Strap
The Pilot’s Watch UTC Spitfire Edition “MJ271” is limited to 271 pieces.
MJ271 was the original call sign of the "Silver Spitfire" during its
time of service. In the project "Silver Spitfire – The Longest Flight",
this airplane will be the first Spitfire ever to circumnavigate the
globe in 2019. The bronze case, olive green dial and brown calfskin
strap combine to lend the timepiece a character of its own. Depending on
the use to which it is put, bronze develops a patina in the course of
time and darkens in colour, giving the Pilot’s Watch UTC Spitfire
Edition “MJ271” its own unmistakable character. The UTC mechanism makes
it very easy to set a second time zone. Turning the crown one way or
another in its intermediate position causes the hour hand to jump
forward or backward in one-hour steps. If the International Date Line is
crossed in the process, the date display likewise changes
automatically. The time at home can be read off in the IWC-typical
arc-shaped UTC display in the upper half of the dial. The newly
developed, IWC-manufactured 82710 calibre features Pellaton winding with
components made of non-wearing ceramic and has a 60-hour power reserve.
